Hamilton K-9 is owned and operated by Harry and Felicia Hamilton. They started Hamilton K-9 Training center at their residence in Bonifay, Florida in 1998, to provide boarding , basic obedience for companion dogs, and specialized training in areas such as Schutzhund training, drug-dog training, protection training, and apprehension training services to dog owners. Together they have trained hundreds of dogs, which has given them the opportunity to work with many different breeds and perfect methods that make training both enjoyable and easy for dogs and their owners.
Harry Hamilton has had a passion for dog training since childhood. As a young person he sought out any information concerning dogs and obedience training. Throughout his life, he attended several obedience classes to train dogs. Harry joined the Holmes County Sheriff’s Office in 1990 and became a drug dog handler in 1992. He handled two drug dogs through their working careers and was trained with the first one at Eglin Air Force Base along with Military Working Dogs. While in Law Enforcement Harry attended many classes and seminars including a handler and dog team instructors course at St. Petersburg College. In 1995 he began competing in the sport of Schutzhund which is a three phase dog sport that includes tracking, elaborate obedience, and an advanced form of protection. Harry continues competing in Schutzhund throughout the United States and has recently retired as Captain over the Criminal Investigations Division at the Sheriff’s Office after a 23 year career. Harry continues to train dogs for sport and Law Enforcement, and enjoys helping people with their dog training needs.
Felicia Hamilton began her involvement with dogs when she was a toddler traveling the country with her parents as they competed in AKC conformation shows. When she was 8 years old she began showing her own dogs, which were Whippets and Shelties. This early start prepared her to become an expert groomer as she learned to ready her own dogs for AKC show rings across the United States. As an adult Felicia continued to compete in showing and also worked for many years as a Vet-Tech. In addition to putting her talent for grooming and experience as a Vet-Tech into action at Hamilton K-9, she also competes in the sport of Schutzhund (tracking, obedience, and protection) and also enjoys training dogs for basic obedience, Law Enforcement and Schutzhund. Together Harry and Felicia have two life times of experience with dogs which includes running a full time training facility (Hamilton K-9) since 1998.
